Fraudsters Attack Internet Ad Model (TechWeb, May 13th)
With online advertising ramping into boom mode, having already overtaken outdoor advertising during its brief lifespan, some individuals have been lured to the industry by tales of easy pickings, only to abuse the present ad models by falsifying the simple actions (such as click-thrus) upon which many transactions take place in this space. By doing so, they have highlighted some of the inherent weaknesses in the present models, while forcing som advertisers to go on the defensive.
